Willo' the Wisp!

Willo’ the Wisp is as strange a cartoon as I can remember from my youth. It was created by Nick Spargo and voiced by Kenneth Williams, and ran for a total of 26 five-minute episodes.

The cartoon was set in Doyley Woods in Oxfordshire and was about a wisp ( a blue ghost type of creature) and the other creatures in the wood, namely Arthur the Caterpillar, Mavis Cruet the fairy, Evil Edna ( a talking tv!), Carwash the cat, and the Beast.

Willo the Wisp

Willo was a blue ghost like - wisp. Willo was the narrator of al the tales and was voiced by the very distinctive Kenneth Williams, the face of the wisp was also altered to resemble Williams.
The character began life as an educational video for British Gas which Nick Spargo put together using the setting of Doyley Woods (which was a few miles away from where he lived).

Mavis

Mavis Cruet

Mavis is a fairy that lives in Doyley Woods. She has magic powers but they are necessarily the most dependable, and Mavis isn't exactly the brightest creature in the Woods.
Mavis has a good heart and wants to spread light and joy throughout the woods, she is also not often seen without her wiser and more worldly companion Arthur.
Edna

Edna

You're not going to see a cast of characters like this anywhere else! Edna, or Evil Edna as she is known, likes to upset everyone else in Doyley woods.
She can cast magic spells and often uses them for her own ends, she takes pleasure in being mean to the other inhabitants of the woods.

Arthur

Arthur

I like this screen capture of Arthur as I've caught him in mid-preech. Arthur is a caterpillar that spends a lot of his time with Mavis. Arthur is worldly-wise and likes nothing more than to share his knowledge with others, even if he is a bit smug while doing it! he is scared of Evil Edna and tried to keep out of her way as much as possible!

The Moog

The Moog

The Moog is a dog, with one thing on his mind - Bones (also he is pretty dim-witted so probably can't have more than one thing on his mind). The Moog is a very gentle and happy member of the woods and is a good friend to Mavis and Arthur
