Knights of the Magical Light!

Leoric is the leader of the Good Guys, who are called the Spectral Knights. Leoric has the emblem of the Lion and his power staff bestows the Power of Wisdom. Leoric is the leader of New Valarak and seeks to develop a safe, stable, harmonious community for his people.

Just as a quick reminder at this point, the knights could change into their emblem animal, and those with staves could also activate thier stave power by reciting a spell.  These knights that didn't have staves, could instead drive vehicles that they shared their powers with.

DarkStorm is the leader of the Bad Guys aka the Darkling Lords. DarkStrom bears the emblem of the Mollusc and his power staff bestows the power of Decay.

Mordred rescues a group of knights in the first episode on their quest to Iron Mountain and in return for their release he commands their loyalty. Before this he already had the fealty of MortDredd and Reekon. Basically these guys are bullies wanting to take advantage of the breakdown in society to further their own selfish aims.

Merklyn is obviously based on the Merlin figure form the King Arthur legend. In the first episode we find that world of today, e.g. industrial society once existed in the Visionaries world, Prysmos. However electrical energy disappeared from the world and so computers and machines would no longer work. this basically led to a breakdown of society. After many years two power bases formed - the good guys and the bad guys!

Merklyn is a neutral, he lets knights from both sides quest to Iron Mountain, those that make it receive magical powers base don their personalities. In return Merklyn uses the knights to carry out his own quests and tasks.

Galdaria is the only lady knight in the Spectral Knights. Galdaria is from the town of Androsia and has the emblem of a dolphin. In the comic books she has a spell-shield which bestows the power of healing (this is not reflected in the cartoons). Galadria is also Cryotek's love interest!

Galadria has a counter-part evil female knight in the Darkling Lords camp. Virulina was a news reporter before the age of Magic arrived and she now posses the emblem of the shark.

Again in the comic book Virulina had a shield of decay, but this was not reflected in the cartoon. More often than not Virulina and Galadria face-off against each other.
