Roobarb was a green dog and Custard was a pink cat who lived next door and was his best friend. The unique style of Roobarb and Custard was created by Grange Calveley and animate by Bob Godfrey. The cartoons are just five minutes in length and great fun to watch, using a deliberately rough and edgy animation style.
The original series was called Roobarb, and in 2005 a new computer animated series (by the same creator and animator) was created called Roobarb and Custard Too.
Roobarb had a number of regular friends that helped him in his various adventures. These were cheifly Mole, Mouse, Rook, Princess Poodle and Maggie Malone, the Birds also like to look down from above - but I don't think Roobarb would exactly categorise them as friends. Most of Roobarb's schemes were based around getting hold of the Birds!
Roobarb
The canine that's full of energy and enthusiasm! He spends most of his live either in the house, the garden or the shed, but manages to build up quite a collection of friends in this small world. Roobarb is always positive and always sure that his next great scheme is going to work!
Custard
Roobarb's neighbour and best friend, Custard can often be found sitting on the fence, laughing or poking holes in Roobarb's latest plan.
Custard and Roobarb are best friend's and if Roobarb is always overly optimistic then Custard balances him out perfectly as Custard is a born half is glass empty!
Mouse
Mouse is a major geek, he is a technological wizard and gives Roobarb all of the technical input for his inventions.
The Birds
The Birds like to sit on the tree or the roof of the house and poke fun at poor old Roobarb, they like nothing better than to see his schemes go wrong, and they are rarely disappointed!
There are many other friends that join Roobarb in each episode (more than I can fit on this page), but if you would like to learn more about the cartoon and Roobarb's other friend's such as the Mole, Rookie, Maggie Malone and the Poodle Princess then why not check out the official site (link can be found in the resources section).
