Pole Position was a top secret government agency run by Dr Zachary Darret and fronted by a car-stunt show. The heroes of the show are three siblings: Tess, Dan and their baby sister Daisy. The three siblings become pole-position agents and work for their uncle Dr Zachary, after their parents were killed in action.
The trio fight crime with the help of two Knight-Rider style cars, Wheels and Roadie. The show ran from 1982-1986 and wasn’t particularly gripping, but it had a hell of a theme tune! The cartoon only ran for thirteen episodes and was based loosely on the Atari game of the same name.
Tess
Tess Darrett is the oldest of the three siblings and also seems to be the leader of the group by default (Dan is always whining like a baby and Daisy is a baby!).
Tess drives Wheels which is the red and black car.
Dan
Dan Darrett drives Roadie (the blue car) and comes across as more hot-headed and impulsive than his elder sister.
Daisy and Kuma
Daisy is the youngest member of the team. She doesn't get a car to drive! and is kept focused on her school-work by Tess and Dan, despite this she still manages to get mixed up in the odd adventure! She also has a pet called Kuma, which seems to be a weird koala bear type animal! If you ever watched the show, you will recognise Kuma's distinctive 'speech' noises immediately, I'd completely forgotten about him until I watched the dvd again!
Zachary
Zachary Darrett is the uncle of the three siblings. he's the one that gives them all of their missions. Zachary is also an engineer and is the person that built Roadie and Wheels.
Wheels and Roadie
I'm not sure which is which, but these guys above are actually Wheels and Roadie, the cars were just that, cars that the computer travelled in. Wheels travels in the Red and Black Mustang and is partnered with Tess, like Tess Wheels tends to be a bit more cautious and level-headed. Roadie travels with Dan in the blue sports car and is probably the best matched to Dan's personality, but both computers see it as their duty to keep the kids out of trouble.
Pole Position Stunt Show
As mentioned above the cover for the Darrett family's crime fighting operations is the Stunt Show that they inherited from their father. They travel form town to town using the truck below which contains Wheels, Roadie and about everything else they could need to fight crime in style!
