The Moomins is one of my favourite pages on this site - if you’re not sure whether you remember the show, just think Black Top Hats and haunting pan-pipe music!

When you look up the Moomins on the internet, many sites say that it always seemed a little sad and spooky - and the memories of have of it from childhood match this. It was written by Tove Jansson and followed the exploits of Moomin Pappa, Moomin Mamma, Moomin Troll and Snuffkin. The series is set in the Moomin Valley in Finland/Sweden? and the Moomins are a particular type of intelligent troll that hibernate all winter and only wake in the spring. The original series from which the above clip is taken was made in the 70’s/80’s, but later an anime cartoon followed in the 90’s, but this never captured the spirit of the original.
