Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors was set in a universe where there were two forces, and surprise, surprise one was good and one was evil! Jayce’s side were the Lightning League ( The good guys), Jayce was looking for his father so that he could defeat the Monster Minds, who were ruled by Saw Boss (and were the Bad Guys). Jayce’s father was a biologist or a botanist? and he created by mistake the Saw Boss a being that has power over the Vines and the Monster Minds. The Saw Boss turned Jayce’s father’s lab into a fortress and has the ability to transport the fortress at will. The only way he can be defeated is if Jayce can get to his father and combine the magic root ( of which they each have half) so that they can defeat Saw Boss.
The show ran for 65 episodes and never really had a final episode. Apparently the studio were building up to a final movie to close the show, but the sales/viewing figures were insufficient and so this never got made. So the cartoon like many others, sadly never reached a satisfying finale.
Jayce
Jayce is the hero of the cartoon, as we follow his search across the cosmos to find his father (Audric). Jayce is the Leader of the Lighting League (the other good guys shown here) and along with the magic ring (Ring of Light) he owns they help him to fight the Monster Minds which are hampering his search for his father. By finding his father Jayce hopes to unite the magic roots they both carry and defeat the monster minds once and for all.
Flora
Flora as her name suggests is the 'daughter' of a flower, created through one of Gillian and Audric's experiments. Flora has telepathic abilities and she can communicate with other creatures and plants, she also has a bit of a spidey sense that can tell her when the monster minds are near, which proves very useful many times. You may remember that Flora rides around on some floating whale thing called Brock which is also her best-friend.
Gillian
Gillian is first and foremost a scientist, he worked with Jayce's father and developed the many vehicles that the Lightining League use against the Monster Minds. Gillian is the group's main source of knowledge about the Monster Minds (and the universe in general!). Gillianis also a sorcerer and it is he who gave Jayce his magical ring.
Herc
Herc Stormsailer is the owner of the ship the Lighting League use (the Pride of the Skies). In theory he is hired help, staying with them long enough to get his payment from Gillian (afer the magic gold Gillian gave him turned into useless lead). However throughout the series we see he is not just a mercenary but becomes a fully fledged member of the League and friend to Jayce.
Saw Boss
In case you hadn't guessed Saw Boss is the Bad-Guy. He is the leader of the Monster Mind, he started life as a small sentient plant created by Jayce's father. Then a burst of 'dark radiation' from a nearby star turned him into a mutant plant - evil mutant plant!
He gets hisname form the fact that he mutates into a vehicle with a huge circular saw when needed. He controls all of the other plant monsters through telepathy and basically wants to rule a universe where plants are the dominant life form.
Oon
Oon is a small magical suit of armour, possibly many thousand years old. Oon served Jayce's father and now Jayce. He was charged by Audric to bring half of the magic root to Jayce. Oon is never seen without his lance, and he seems pretty indestructible, as on many occassions he gets dismembered by the Monster Mind and doesn't really seem to feel it too much. For a knight he doesn't really like fighting that much, and is generally quite timid, but is unflinchingly loyal to Jayce.
