The Family Ness was based on the idea that the LochNess Monster was in fact an entire family of Nessies. There was Loveliness, Bashfulness, Sportiness, Her Highness, Babyness, Carefulness, Ferociousness etc. The family have two human friends, a pair of siblings Angus and Elspeth, who can call the Nessies by blowing on their thistle whistles.
The cartoons are now over twenty years old! They were originally produced in 1984 and as far as I am aware didn’t get aired outside the UK. The cartoons were created by Peter Maddocks, who also created Jimbo and the JetSet. The cartoon and soundtrack are instantly recognisable, there was even an official single made of the end theme tune.
Angus and Elspeth
Angus and Elspeth live with their uncle Mr McTout in a cottage next to Loch Ness. They accientally discover the Nessies when they catch Silly-Ness caught by the side of the Loch. They free Silly-Ness and in return for this they befriend all of the Nessies and are given Thistle Whistles so that they can call the Nessies whenever they need!
Mr McTout
Mr McTout likes to play his bagpipes! and is often seen carryng them. Mr McTout is the keeper of the Loch, and doesn't beleive in Loch Ness monsters. Alot of the storylines revolve around the kids getting out of trouble and trying hide the existence of the Nessies from Mr McTout and others, such as Sargent McFuzz.
The Nessies
We find out through the cartoon that there is in fact not just one Loch Ness monster, but an entire family of nessies living in the Loch.
