Fox
Fox is the leader of the group and he nmanages to get the gang safely to White Deer Park, which is the bulk of the storyline for series One. Series Two follows the battle between the Animals of Farthing Wood and the Blue Foxes in White Deer park for territory, adn series three sees an invasion of rats into White Deer Park which the animals have to fend off. During series One fox finds a mate called Vixen who joins the group and at the end of series three fox hands over the reigns to one of his sons Plucky, who will lead the Animals from there on out. |

Badger
The badger is perhaps the friendliest, most trusted and oldest of all the animals. It is their innate trust of the badger that allows the animals to meet together in the first place and form the pact. In the tv sereis unfortunately badger dies (of old age), but for those of you that can't bear a sad ending, I can confirm that in the books badger is last seen with apartner called Frond living happily ever after!

Mole
Mole is badger's best friend, and once more unfortunately mole dies during the second season of the Animals of Farthing Wood. After all the adventures to get to White Deer park, he doesn't make it through the winter there. However Mole leaves behind a son called Mossy to follow in his foot-steps. During the adventure mole often hels the gang by being able to burrow under-ground and into building etc. |

Kestrel
In the tv series Kestrel is a female, but in the books she is a male! Kestrel generally acts as the forward look-out for the group, flying on ahead to scout out the terrain. Although Kestrel is in series one and two, she just doesn't appear in series three. Presum, ably she's flown off and left the group settled in White Deer Park. |

Toad
Toad is a bit of a comedy character in the series, providing some light relief. Toad is the one that suggests going to White Deer Park and safely leads all the animals there. In the books Toad is killed by Bully, but fortunately in the tv series he makes it through, despite a few close calls. |

Owl
In the tv series Owl is a female, whereas in the book she is a male called Tawny. Owl likes to preach to the group on just about everything, but she is generally good natured, and acts as a scout for the group. Owl also finds herself a mate during the adventures of the group and his name is Hollow. |
|

Hare
As you can see from the picture above Hare generally thinks he's right and everyone else is wrong! Hare is married to Mrs Hare who unfortunately gets killed by ScarFace. Hare and Mrs Hare have a couple of children (Leveret and Dash) and a little bit like Kestrel Hare disappears during the mysterious cull of characters between series two and three, and so he is last seen in series two, and just disappears completely from series three! |

Hedgehog
The more I write these character guides the more I realise just how many animals actually did die during the series, I must have blocked it all out as a child!! Unfortunately Mr and Mrs Hedghog are both killed during series one of the Animals of Farthing Wood. The hedgehogs are too prickly to be carried across the road by the faster animals and so they have to try and trundle acropss on their own, unfortunately an articualted lorry has other ideas! ps you will note here that in the first series al the traffic is travelling on the right-hand side of the road, this is because some of the cartoon was made in England and some in France. |
The Voles
The voles were among the smallest animals in the group (alongside the shrews, the newts and fieldmice). Mr Vole despite being small has got very big opinions and likes to be heard. However Mrs Vole gets eaten by ScarFace and Mr Vole dies during the first winter at White Deer park! |
The Newts
Mr and Mrs Newt unfortunately don't make it past episode three of series one. They get left behind in the Marsh, as they find the journey very hard-going (they ned to be near water all the time). Subsequently there is a big fire at the Marsh, and Mr and Mrs Newt are never sen again, but I like to think that they survived it and lived happily ever after! |
Adder
Adder makes it through all three series hooray! She is definitely a little bit less idealistic than the rest of the gang. Adder is very sarcastic and practical (i.e. only concerned with taking care of No1), the majority of the animals are literally scared to death of her, as they question just how much she wil stick to the oath! In some ways Adder is an unsung heroine as she is the one that kills ScarFace (the evil leader of the blue foxes) when he is drinking from a stream in series two. |
The Pheasants
Mr and Mrs Pheasant were always quarrelling and bickering. They make it as far serries one episodes four and five, where sadly they both get caught and shot by a farmer. |
Weasel
Even more so than toad, Weasel is definitely the joker of the group, there for comic relief. Whereas Adder's humour is quite sarcastic and biting, Weasel is just very childish and annoying! Weasel gets a mate called Measley and together they have children called Cleo and Fido. |
Rabbit
Father Rabbit makes it all the way through the three series. Mother rabbit is killed by ScarFace in series two. They are both very panicky and nervous and this shows itself in Mr Rabbit by way of him being constantly convinced he is ill of something or other and going to die, they have a number of children that survive them. |
